I had fished the Damdochax before, but it didn't go quite as well back then. This time, with Christoph by my side, things were bound to be different. In BC, there was generally very little water, and particularly the tributaries had extremely low water levels. This included the Damdochax as well. The steelheads weren't migrating much into the tributaries; they mostly remained in the main rivers, awaiting rain and more water. Luckily, the Nass Lodge wasn't fully occupied, so we immediately decided to stay there. We were able to fish the Nass River for 6 days, and then we spent 3 days at the Damdochax. There, Christoph and I found a honeyhole and successfully caught many salmon and steelheads. Our time at the Nass River was exceptional. In total, I caught 45 steelheads, while Christoph caught 30. Additionally, there were around 30 salmon and many bulltrouts. Experiencing something like this again probably won't come easy.
